Grant Guidelines

Background

As part of our mission, the Board of Directors annually allocates a portion of the Foundation’s investable assets for distribution as community grants to all eligible 501(c)(3) organizations serving Santa Clara County, California.

Fields of Interest

All areas will be considered, but emphasis will be given to arts and culture, animal protection, environmental conservation, and historic preservation.

Limitations

Applicants must be 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organizations. The following types of support are not eligible: political campaigns, religious activities, deficit financing, loans, grants to individuals and matching gifts.

Geographic Preferences

The Board of Directors annually allocates a portion of the Foundation’s investable assets for distribution as grants to 501(c)(3) organizations providing services or programs in Santa Clara County, California. All Farrington Historical Foundation community grants must be used in Santa Clara County.

Range of Grants

The Foundation accepts grant applications from $1,000 to $25,000. No grant may be more than a one year grant.

An agency may submit one application per grant cycle, but no one project may be funded in two consecutive grant cycles. If an agency has received a grant in the previous year, the final grant report must have been submitted to the Farrington Historical Foundation before the agency may apply for a new grant.

Review Process

Policy and procedures regarding grants is the responsibility of the Grant Committee. Once the annual allocation amount for grants is approved by the Farrington Board of Directors, the Grant Committee sets application deadlines for the submission of grant proposals. Proposals received are then reviewed and evaluated. Accepted proposals are funded the following month. All grant recipients are required to submit to the Foundation a final grant report demonstrating that the funds were used as intended.

Application Deadlines for Grants

The application deadlines for the submission of proposals are November and May. Check the grant application page for specific date deadlines. Proposals received after the application deadline may be resubmitted during the next funding cycle. All applications received will be advised of action taken.

How to Submit Your Organization’s Proposal

Our community grant application is available online. If you need help filling out the application, contact the Foundation office during business hours - Monday through Friday, from 9:00AM until 1:00PM.
